Jersey City Barbershops and Grooming Studios See Rise in Men's Skincare Demand
Jersey City barbershops are adding facial treatments and skincare consultations to their service menus as demand for men's grooming services expands beyond haircuts.

Barbershops and grooming studios across Jersey City are increasingly adding facial treatments and skincare consultations to their service menus, responding to growing demand for men's grooming services that extend well beyond traditional haircuts and shaves.
Several shops have added dedicated skincare treatment chairs alongside their traditional barber stations, offering services including facials, exfoliation treatments, and basic skincare product consultations. Shop owners say client interest in these services has grown steadily, driven partly by broader cultural shifts around men's grooming and partly by social media content that has normalized skincare routines for male clients who previously might not have considered them.
"Five years ago, suggesting a facial to most of our clients would have gotten a confused look," said one Jersey City barbershop owner who added skincare services last year. "Now a decent share of our regulars book a facial add-on without us even suggesting it, because they've already seen it discussed somewhere online."
Shop owners say the added services have increased average ticket size per visit without requiring clients to book an entirely separate spa appointment, since the treatments are typically bundled into an existing haircut or grooming visit. Several shops have specifically trained barbers in basic skincare techniques rather than hiring separate estheticians, keeping the experience integrated within the traditional barbershop setting.
Industry observers say the trend reflects broader growth in the men's grooming and skincare product market nationally, which has expanded significantly over the past several years.
