Camden Logistics Founder James Whitfield Expands Warehouse Network Statewide

James Whitfield's Camden-based logistics company, Delaware Valley Freight, is adding three new warehouse fulfillment facilities across South Jersey this year, expanding a business Whitfield started with a single leased truck fifteen years ago into a regional logistics operation with over 400 employees.

Whitfield launched the company as a small freight hauling operation before pivoting toward e-commerce fulfillment as online retail volume grew. The company now manages inventory and shipping for dozens of mid-sized e-commerce brands that lack the scale to build their own fulfillment infrastructure.

"I started this company with one truck and a phone number, driving routes myself most nights," Whitfield said. "Every facility we've added since then has come from the same instinct — figure out where demand is heading before your competitors do, and get there first, even if it means taking on real financial risk."

The new facilities, located in Bellmawr, Pennsauken, and Gloucester City, will add roughly 600,000 square feet of warehouse space, positioning the company to compete for larger fulfillment contracts that require broader regional coverage. Whitfield says the expansion was driven directly by client demand, noting that Delaware Valley Freight turned away several large fulfillment contracts last year due to insufficient capacity.

The company's growth mirrors a broader logistics boom across South Jersey, where proximity to the Philadelphia and New York metro markets has made the region increasingly attractive for e-commerce fulfillment operations.
