Atlantic City Resort Spas Expand Wellness Packages for Weekend Travelers

Several Atlantic City resort spas are expanding multi-day wellness packages aimed at weekend travelers, part of a broader effort to position the boardwalk as a relaxation-focused destination distinct from its long-established gaming and nightlife reputation.

The new packages typically bundle spa treatments, fitness classes, and healthy dining options across a two- or three-night stay, targeting visitors who want a wellness-oriented weekend without necessarily setting foot on a casino floor. Resort spa directors say demand for these bundled packages has grown steadily as Atlantic City works to diversify its visitor base beyond traditional gaming tourists.

"For a long time, our spa was almost an afterthought for guests who were really here for the casino," said one resort spa director involved in developing the new packages. "We're now marketing directly to a completely different traveler, someone who's choosing Atlantic City specifically because of the ocean and the spa experience, not despite the boardwalk's reputation."

The packages have drawn a notably different demographic than typical casino guests, with resorts reporting higher weekend bookings from younger professionals and small groups of friends organizing wellness-focused getaways. Several properties have also added ocean-view treatment rooms and expanded outdoor relaxation spaces to capitalize on the boardwalk's waterfront setting.

Tourism officials say the wellness package expansion aligns with broader efforts to diversify Atlantic City's visitor economy beyond gaming revenue, though they note spa tourism remains a small fraction of the boardwalk's overall visitor spending.
